With this itinerary, you will discover the ethnic diversity of Indonesia, beginning in Yogyakarta, the cultural capital of Java, renowned for its ancient Buddhist and Hindu temples of Borobudur and Prambanan, its royal palace, and vibrant markets. You will then continue to Sulawesi  to explore the Toraja region, famous for its remarkable funeral rituals, distinctive traditional houses, and the lush natural beauty of Rammang Rammang. The journey concludes in the paradise of Raja Ampat, where you will explore karst islands, turquoise lagoons, and some of the world’s most spectacular marine ecosystems.

Day 1

Arrival in Indonesia

Arrival in Jakarta or Bali, followed by a private transfer to your hotel and free time depending on your flight schedule.

Day 2

Flight to Yogyakarta and Borobudur

Private transfer to the airport for your flight to Yogyakarta, followed by a full-day excursion to Borobudur, including:

 

  • Borobudur Temple
  • Pawon Temple
  • Mendut Temple
  • Candirejo Village

In the evening, enjoy a cultural performance featuring live gamelan music at the Sonobudoyo Museum (either a traditional wayang kulit shadow puppet show or a traditional dance performance, depending on the day).

Day 3

Yogyakarta and Prambanan

Full-day excursion in Yogyakarta and Prambanan, including:

  • Kraton (Royal Palace)
  • Taman Sari (Water Palace)
  • Malioboro Street
  • Beringharjo Market

  • Sewu Hindu Temple

Day 4

Flight to Makassar (Sulawesi)

Private transfer to Yogyakarta Airport for your flight to Makassar, the main city in southern Sulawesi. In the afternoon, enjoy free time to explore the city’s main attractions independently, including the impressive 99 Domes Mosque, Losari Beach waterfront area, and Fort Rotterdam, built by the Dutch in the 17th century.

Day 5

Rammang Rammang and Transfer to Toraja

In the morning, visit the village of Rammang Rammang in the Maros region, set within a stunning natural landscape. After a short boat ride along the Pute River, explore the area on foot, discovering its lagoons, caves, and dramatic karst mountains.

 

After the visit, continue to Rantepao in the Tana Toraja region (approximately 7 hours by road). Along the way, stops will be made for lunch and coffee in the coastal city of Parepare and the mountainous region of Enrekang.

Day 6

Tana Toraja

Full-day private excursion through the Toraja region, including:

 

  • Villages in the Tumbang Datu area, such as Bebo and Karuaya
  • Ke’te’ Kesu’ Village, known for its hanging cliffside graves
  • Buntupune Village, where you can visit a traditional tongkonan house
  • Londa Cemetery, featuring tau tau wooden effigies representing the deceased whose remains rest there

 

If a funeral ceremony is taking place in the region during your travel dates, the itinerary will be adjusted to include it.

Tana Toraja

Full-day private excursion through the Toraja region, including:

  • Papa Batu, the only traditional house with a stone roof
  • Suaya, home to the tombs of ancient Torajan kings
  • Baby graves carved into the trunk of a living tree
  • Tampang Allo Cemetery
  • Lemo Cemetery
  • Makale Statue of Jesus Christ, offering panoramic views of the region

If timing permits, the itinerary will be adapted to include a visit to the buffalo market, an essential element for understanding Torajan culture.

Flight to Sorong

Transfer to Palopo Airport for your flight to Sorong via Makassar. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time in Makassar, depending on your flight schedule to Sorong.

Transfer to Raja Ampat

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Sorong, the gateway to Raja Ampat. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel and enjoy free time to relax and prepare for the marine adventure ahead.

Raja Ampat Islands

Boat excursion to some of Raja Ampat’s most spectacular sites, including:

  • Piaynemo, famous for its viewpoint overlooking karst islets surrounded by turquoise waters
  • Telaga Bintang, a beautiful star-shaped lagoon perfect for photography
  • Arborek, a small ecotourism island with a local village where snorkeling can be enjoyed directly from the jetty among colorful corals, tropical fish, and occasionally manta rays
  • Sawandarek, where sea turtles are often spotted near the jetty and manta rays can sometimes be seen in the seagrass meadows
  • Pasir Timbul Sandbank, located off Kri Island

Free Day in Raja Ampat

Enjoy a free day at your own pace in this tropical paradise. Relax by the sea, swim, snorkel, or simply unwind in one of the most spectacular marine environments on Earth.

Day 12

Return to Sorong and Departure from Papua

After breakfast, transfer by boat to Waisai Harbor to board the ferry back to Sorong. Upon arrival, transfer to the airport, where your adventure through Papua comes to an end.
