King Bird-of-Paradise

The King Bird-of-Paradise is one of the most exciting species to observe among the six Bird-of-Paradise species found in Nimbokrang. The trail to its display site is approximately a 40-minute walk from Isyo Lodge Papua.

The excursion begins at 6:00 AM with a trek through the lowland rainforest. After about 40 minutes, you will arrive at a hide where these birds are often seen. Your guide will listen for their calls and lead you to a suitable observation spot, where you will quietly wait for the birds to appear.

Each male occupies and patrols a specific display area, so sightings are usually limited to males, while females are much more difficult to find. The birds typically remain high in the forest canopy and are very small in size, so spotting them often requires patience and a keen eye.

After the observation session, you will trek back to Isyo Lodge Papua. The tour lasts approximately 4 hours.
